CAP Cancun, an affiliate’s perspective

I booked 2 months in advance as I wanted to apply for a visa to go to Mexico as soon as I heard that the CAP website was having people down there and all the brands participating in what was to be a great event where brands schmoozed with different operators and affiliates along with others in the on the web gambling industry.
Upon arrival at the lavish 5 star resort, organization was not to be seen for the event. I waited another day, and only saw SEO expert Gary Beal at the bar. I then met a few affiliates and affiliate managers there, but none of the brands that I wanted to speak to where there. This type of interaction took place throughout the week as no 1 really went to the resort. It was poorly organized, and different groups of people merely hanged around the hotel with not much to speak to.
I felt quite disappointed as I really wanted to speak with the brands that I promote, and I also wanted to know a bit more about the future of the industry and also take a chance to regain some insights as to the future of the industry, and to speak about the economic downturn and how to approach it etc..
On a positive note, I managed to get some useful information relating to my sites thanks to Gary who was nice enough to help people who wanted untried tips in the SEO field.
It is merely disappointing to spend a considerable amount of money going to these conferences and hoping to make untried business and re-establish previous ones and not really taking anything out of it once all has been paid for. In the future, it would be improved for the organizers to warn people in advance if the event is cancelled or if no 1 is really attending so that cancellations can be put into effect on an early basis.
It was however nice to take some time off work, and do some major sightseeing in what is a major tourist site full of ancient ruins, nice beaches, and lavish nightclubs. Perhaps in the future these types of events can be made beneficial for everyone if brands and major players in the event can RSVP weeks in advance with an on the web list so that willing attendees can know who is going far in advanced and make plans accordingly.
